Police Hometown Heroes

Glen Cove, NY - On Tuesday, outside the Glen Cove Police Department, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D - Long Island, Queens) hosted his annual “Hometown Heroes” event, where he honored and thanked 10 law enforcement officers from across New York’s 3rd Congressional District who displayed exemplary heroism in the line of duty in service to our communities. During the ceremony, Suozzi shared how the exceptional work of each officer saved the lives of New Yorkers.

Washington, DC – Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the placement of five additional Chinese companies on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, raising the total number of restricted entities to 73.

Washington, DC - This week, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-NY03), joined by Congressman Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY04), New York State Senator Jack Martins, Old Brookville Mayor Bernie Ryba, Brookville Mayor Daniel Serota, East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz, and Town of North Hempstead Councilmember Ed Scott, wrote a strong letter to Administrator Michael Whitaker and Regional Administrator Marie Kennington-Gardiner of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to consider alternate approach procedures for flights into John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Glen Cove, NY - "It's summertime, and the relentless noise from airplanes approaching JFK makes what should be the nicest time of the year unbearable. Residents are rightfully concerned and fed up," declared Congressman Tom Suozzi (D - Long Island, Queens).

Repeated reports of low-flying planes, loud air traffic noise, and other airplane-related disturbances have increased during the last few months.

Suozzi Oysters
July 17, 2024

Glen Cove, NY - On Tuesday, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D - Long Island, Queens) was joined by Eric Swenson, Executive Director of the Hempstead Harbor Protection Committee, along with local elected officials and volunteers delivering 80 crates of “spat-on-shell” oysters to be planted along Nassau County’s north shore of the Long Island Sound. These 1 million oysters will not only help revive the area’s shellfishing tradition but will help further cleanse the harbor’s water.

Washington, DC - On Monday evening, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D - Long Island, Queens) hailed the bipartisan passage of H.R. 5441, a bill that reauthorizes Long Island Sound Programs until 2028.  The bipartisan bill, passed by a vote of 333 to 51, was cosponsored by Suozzi and reauthorizes the Environmental Protection Agency's Long Island Sound programs through 2028.

GLEN COVE, NY – Today, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island, Queens) announced that congressional appropriators have included language for local projects in their first draft of the 2025 spending bills. Suozzi has been advocating for funding for these projects, which include new equipment for the Glen Cove Police Department, new systems for clean drinking water, and new pump stations to prevent flooding.
