Our office will be hosting an Academy Selection Night on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The event will take place at the Hicksville VFW which is located at 320 South Broadway, Hicksville, NY 11801.
The U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will all be represented.
High school juniors who are considering attending a Service Academy are encouraged to attend. Current cadets and graduates of Service Academies will be on hand to share their experiences and tell prospective students about the physical and mental demands of the schools.
For more information, please contact my Huntington district office at (631) 923-4100.
The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please review the page of Frequently Asked Questions for those seeking a Military Academy Nomination.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
Congressman Suozzi may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. To request a Military Academy Nomination from our office, please complete the form below. It is strongly recommended that, in addition to and along with the completed form below, you submit a brief essay - no more than 300 words in length - explaining your interest in receiving a nomination.
Best wishes to you as you pursue your goal of attending one of the U.S. Service Academies and serving our country.
