Suozzi Marks October 7th Anniversary at Unveiling of Memorial at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center

Glen Cove, NY – On Sunday, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D – Nassau, Queens) marked the anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attack in Israel at a solemn unveiling of a memorial at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove.
“Sunday’s ceremony, unveiling the first memorial plaque in the country commemorating the one-year anniversary of the October 7th massacre in Israel, was deeply moving, bringing together a survivor of the Nova Music Festival, Holocaust survivors, HMTC staff and volunteers, and the broader community,” said Suozzi. “The ceremony served as both a memorial and a call to action, ensuring that the lives lost will never be forgotten and that the fight against hatred continues.”
In addition to Suozzi, speakers at Sunday’s memorial ceremony included HMTC Executive Director Moji Pourmoradi, Rabbi Howard Stecker, of Temple Israel of Great Neck, Shir Zohar, a survivor of the Nova Music Festival, and Renée Silver, a Holocaust survivor.
“I unequivocally stand with Israel. We must degrade Iran and their terrorist network of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other shadowy nefarious actors devoted to killing Jews, destroying Israel, and hurting America and the cause of freedom and democracy,” said Suozzi.
“America must embrace Israel’s efforts to destroy these terrorist organizations and build a future with like-minded allies, especially those in the Muslim world, to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to the people that these authoritarian fanatics have terrorized for generations.”
"So many families have suffered because of this brutal, unjustified, inhuman terrorist attack. My heart goes out to the Neutra family of Plainview. Their son and brother, Omer, was taken hostage 365 days ago. I cannot fathom their suffering as Omer approaches his second birthday, held in captivity with no contact with the outside world," stated Suozzi. "The inscription at the base of the stone memorial reads, 'May their memory be a blessing and one day we will all dance again.' And when we bring the remaining hostages home, dance we will. #BringThemAllHomeNow."
