SUOZZI CONTINUES TO STAND WITH ISRAEL, FIGHTS TO FULLY FUND IRON DOME AND VOTES TO PASS BILL TODAY
September 23, 2021
Since entering public office, Suozzi has consistently stood by Israel - even against members of his own party; In Congress, Suozzi has fought for and voted to provide unconditional funding to Israel for defense and humanitarian efforts
Congressman Tom Suozzi (D – Long Island, Queens) issued the following statement after he voted in support of critical funding to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome:
“We must support the replenishment of funding for the Israeli defensive system – the Iron Dome. I have fought to fully find it, and today I proudly voted in support of the replenishment of funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system. Iron Dome saves civilian lives. I am and will always be an ardent supporter of Israel, and will stand against anyone, even members of my own party, in defense of our close ally.”
In Congress, Suozzi has routinely advocated for Israel’s right to defend itself.
- Earlier this year, Suozzi joined Congressional efforts calling for unconditional aid to Israeli humanitarian efforts and defense efforts.
- Suozzi supported the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem during the previous administration.
- Suozzi introduced and passed the bipartisan SHIELDS Act, legislation to impose sanctions on Hezbollah for its use of human shields.
- Suozzi has supported Congressional efforts calling on the Biden Administration to appoint an ambassador to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.
- Suozzi supported and helped push into law the bipartisan “Never Again Education Act”, legislation which expands U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum education programming.
- And during the last Congress, Suozzi testified before the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee in favor of the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), a grant that can be used by houses of worship to increase their security measures.
