Suozzi Announces Ronen Neutra, Father of Fallen Hostage Omer Neutra, as Guest to Presidential Address

Omer Neutra of Plainview Was Killed during the October 7th Hamas Attack on Israel
Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Suozzi (D-NY) announced that Ronen Neutra, Plainview resident and father of American hostage Omer Neutra, will be his guest tomorrow at President Trump’s Joint Congressional Address.
“With so much going on, we cannot forget that our local resident, Omer Neutra, was murdered, and his body is still being held hostage by Hamas,” said Suozzi.
Omer Neutra was serving as an IDF tank commander near the Gaza border when he was killed during the surprise attack on October 7th, 2023. Until December of 2024, it was believed that Omer had been captured alive. Hamas still holds Omer’s body hostage in Gaza.
Suozzi met with constituents Ronen and Orna Neutra, Omer’s parents, in Tel Aviv in December of 2023, and invited them as his guests to President Biden’s final State of the Union address last year.
Omer grew up in Plainview and joined the Israeli Army after graduating from The Solomon Schechter School of Long Island.
“I had forgotten that I had met Omer and his brother, Daniel when they were in school,” said Suozzi. “After I met their parents in Israel in 2023, they sent me this photo.”
“It has been 17 long months since Hamas's brutal attack on Israel. Everything possible must be done to get all the hostages home, so those who are alive may return to their families and so those who were killed can be laid to rest in dignity,” Suozzi concluded.
