Suozzi Participates in Bipartisan Delegation Visit to Middle East
April 17, 2017
Congressman Tom Suozzi, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, returned from a week-long trip to Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan, where he and other committee members met with U.S. military officials and troops stationed in the region. Other members of the bipartisan delegation included Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-PA) and Rep. Anthony Brown (D-MD).
"This was a great opportunity for me and my colleagues to meet with some of our nation's highest ranking military officials, including the Commander of U.S. Special Operations Forces in Iraq and Syria, for updates on our strategy to defeat ISIS and our partnerships with other nations to help counter ISIS' efforts throughout the region.
"I was especially honored to spend quality time with soldiers from our district on Queens and Long Island. Getting to know them better and hearing their stories of why they chose to serve our country filled me with tremendous pride. They're making substantial contributions to the safety of our nation and to creating a better world.
"I am humbled by the service of our military men and women as well as the diplomatic corps. For my part, I will keep working hard with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make sure they have the tools and equipment to do their jobs and come home safe," said Congressman Suozzi.
Congressman Suozzi serves on the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. He also serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee. You can view photos and videos of Congressman Suozzi’s trip by visiting his Facebook page.
