Bill will create tax parity between vaping products and cigarettes, fund public health programs to stop tobacco use, expand access to inhalers and colorectal cancer screening

Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation including the bipartisan Protecting American Lungs Act. This bill, introduced by Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island, Queens), will tax nicotine from vaping products at the same rate as nicotine from cigarettes. The lead Republican sponsor is Congressman Suozzi’s Long Island colleague Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford).

Congressman Lester Wolff, who recently celebrated his 101st birthday, is the oldest living former member of Congress and was instrumental in the creation of the federal refuge in 1968.
