Suozzi Joins Chinese American Not-for-Profits to Deliver 1,000 Pieces of Personal Protective Equipment to Glen Cove Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation to Help Stop the Spread of COVID-19

Today, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island, Queens) and two nonprofit Chinese American organizations, working together, delivered more than 1,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation to assist the center’s staff as they help stop the spread of COVID-19. The donation consisted of protective coverall gowns (75 pieces), goggles (150 pieces), face shields (150 pieces), disposable hats (300 pieces), and N95 face masks (500 pieces).
“In addition to flattening the curve and stopping the spread, we need to ensure that our health care workers and first responders have ample access to personal protective equipment (PPE)", said Suozzi. “I want to thank Gordon Zhang and LICAA for their ongoing charitable work, providing necessary protective gear for our front-line workers. Additionally, special thanks to Syosset High School student, Sabrina Guo, for spearheading a campaign to help stem the spread of this pandemic. We are truly #StrongerTogether.”
The donation was a collaborative effort with the Long Island Chinese American Association (LICAA), which has already donated PPE to more than 20 hospitals and organizations across Long Island and Long Island Laboring Against COVID-19 (LILAC), a GoFundMe campaign organized by Syosset High School freshman, Sabrina Guo.
Congressman Suozzi will survey all senior facilities in his District regarding their needs during this pandemic. Last week, Suozzi along with several not-for-profit Chinese American organizations worked together and delivered 5,000 N-95 masks to Glen Cove Hospital and 5,000 N-95 masks to Huntington Hospital. The masks will be used at the hospitals and distributed to first responders and senior centers in Glen Cove and Huntington.
