Suozzi Sends Letter to President Trump, Urging him to Ensure the Bodies of his Constituent Omer Neutra and Other Deceased Hostages are Returned to Their Families

Washington, D.C.—Yesterday, Congressman Suozzi sent a letter to President Trump thanking
him for securing the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and urging him to continue his work and ensure the
bodies of the deceased hostages, including two American citizens, are returned to their families.
One of those American hostages, Omer Neutra, was a constituent of Suozzi’s.
In the letter, Suozzi writes that “as we celebrate this progress, I must emphasize that the remains
of two Americans have not been recovered...while their families rejoice in the release of the
other hostages, they cannot begin to truly heal until the bodies of their sons are returned.”
“The Neutra family asked me to help bring attention to their cause,” said Suozzi. “I will continue
to do anything I can to help them, but we really need the President’s continued help.”
In a statement, Ronen and Orna Neutra write that “as parents of Captain Omer Neutra, a U.S.-
Israeli citizen still held in Gaza, we are deeply grateful for your leadership and commitment to
bringing so many hostages home. This week—when Omer should have been celebrating his 24th
birthday—we are instead fighting for the chance to bring him back and lay him to rest with the
dignity he deserves. We urge you to continue using your influence and determination until every
last hostage is returned.”
Suozzi also writes that “these two families and their supporters are left questioning whether the
continued captivity of their beloved children stems from genuine challenges in locating them or
from the fact that they are American citizens.”
